please let
a little lenten blurb
I don’t think God wants to hear a Please let prayer.
Please let me pass this test. Please let this presentation go well. Please let there be no traffic.
“Please let” implies that you desire something with all your mind, soul, and body, and there is one fickle, puppeteering entity in the universe solely responsible for either granting or denying it. God is not fickle, and He has given me agency. Me and God are building this life together. He knew me before He ever molded me in my mother’s womb, and so it’s up to me to use my life to figure out who He intended me to be.
Prayer is not a means to an end. Prayer is an inquiry, ever-inching towards freedom.
